Black cats are most often linked with the occult or witchcraft and pagan religions. These cats were assumed to be 'familiars', or companions to witches, demons in disguise and were often used to accuse their owners of participating in the occult.
As a symbol the black cat represents feminism, independence or an affinity with Wiccan or Paganism. It has also been varied as the Black Panther, commonly used to mark x-rated movies, so this tattoo could represent the erotic or sensual.
