Eternity, Phases of Life and Nature in Celtic Knot Tattoos
Strong Nordic influence helped to shape the Celtic knots that we recognize today. Although they are a step away from the more religious-based Celtic cross, the knot is still linked with the cross and considered part of the culture and symbolism of the Celts. The original Celtic knots came from the Irish Book of Kells, which was produced by Irish monks in 800AD.
The Celtic knot is thought to represent the complexity of nature, eternity and the seasons of the years as well as the phases of life.
