At times a trickster, while also being restless and interfering in Native America the coyote represents survival, health and adaptability. In most legends the coyote displays greed, lying, cheating and trickery, but he also brings humor into every story. The coyote teaches that failure is a good teacher and we need to be strong and resilient to succeed.
The coyote faces many of the same temptations as humans do: gluttony, greed, squandering and cheating but manages to overcome these obstacles as do we. Independent and adventurous the coyote is a spirit that many of us embrace.
