The Good Luck of the Elephant Tattoo

An elephant is usually looked upon as a symbol of good luck, so it is no surprise that it is a common tattoo design.

Due to their size the elephant is often looked upon with awe and was thought to be from another world. Elephant ivory has long been highly valued and was used as a currency of trade for many years.

Because of their size and grandeur the elephant has long been associated with kings and rulers. They were even used in early warfare and can be considered an early version of the tank. Although they were not very effective in battle, they were very useful in terrorizing the enemy.

The Hindu god Ganesh has the head of an elephant and is displayed prominently in art all over Southeast Asia. To this day the elephant is revered and respected in these areas of the world, and people pay their respects to the great animal.

Elephants are known to be close with their herd-mates, and will often mourn the loss of a member much like humans. They have amazing memories, are incredibly strong and live for many years, making the symbol of the elephant a good one.
