In ancient Egypt the Eye of Horus was the symbol for Horus, who was the Falcon Sky God. The Eye itself symbolized royal power and was thought to represent indestructibility and rebirth. More recently the symbol has been adopted by freemasons and appears on the Great Seal of the United States.�
