France and the Fleur-De-Lis Tattoo

The fleur-de-lis is a decorative design of either a lily or iris. It was used in many coats of arms in Europe and is linked with the French monarchy. Today it is used by the Spanish monarchy who are the only remaining ancestors of the House of Bourbon.

Since the fleur-de-lis is so closely associated with France, areas that were settle by the French such as Quebec or Louisiana will often display the flower in their flags and other imagery. It is also on the helmets of the NFL New England Saints.
