Prosperity or Plagues with a Frog Tattoo
The frog is seen as a teacher, a lunar creature who resides on land and in water. It is cold blooded and has sensitive skin which some healers saw as magical. Frogs were thought to announce the end of winter by the Native Americans and they also brought rain.
In Egypt the frog was thought to protect souls on the journey to the afterlife, so it was often placed in tombs. Aphrodite considered the frog to be sacred. The Chinese also revered the frog and built special temples for them. A frog with a coin in its mouth brings prosperity to business.
In the West the frog doesn’t have such a prosperous following as its characteristics caused it to be linked with everything unpleasant. Plagues, disease, witches and the devil are all associated with the frog.
