The Loyalty and Generosity of the Maltese Cross Tattoo
The Maltese Cross is a symbol of courage, and has been used as protective talisman for firefighters. It was named for the men of Malta who risked their lives to save the brothers in the Knights of St. John from a fiery death.
The eight points of the cross represent loyalty, piety, generosity, courage, honor, glory, contempt of death, helpfulness and reverence for the church, all the qualities of a knight. The symbol has been featured on flags, stamps and coinage.
