Mermaid Tattoo

The Sexual Mermaid Tattoo

This is a popular theme among nautical folks like fisherman or sailors; the mermaid represents female energy and a hint of danger as they were known to lure many men to their deaths in the icy deeps of the sea.

The mermaid and merman have been traced back over 5000 years to many different cultures around the world.

The Greeks believed that the mermaid was the result of a union between the gods and sea creatures.

Mermaids were associated with the goddess Aphrodite, who came from the sea and was the goddess of fair sailing and erotic love.

Subsequently the Romans and their goddess Venus was also linked to the mermaids.

A mermaid is depicted with long, flowing hair which symbolizes her abundant love potential and often carries a comb, which to the Greeks had a sexual meaning as their words for comb were also associated with the female reproductive organ.
