The Messenger Monkey Tattoo
The monkey is playful, loyal, intelligent and full of fun. It can adapt to new situations, is quick and talented. In legends the monkey rose to godly status and used his powers to wreak havoc on earth, which of course drew wrath from the gods.
In Japan the monkey was considered a messenger of the gods and the symbol for a harmonious marriage. It was also a protector against disease and demons. A monkey was said to accompany a monk from India to China carrying the teachings of Buddha.
In Central America the monkey was a patron of the arts and a symbol of knowledge and prophecy, while the Aztecs linked the monkey with the sun.
