The Stamina and Endurance of the Pegasus Tattoo
The winged figure of Pegasus is a very popular tattoo symbol, particularly for those who are fond of horses. He is a prominent figure in Greek mythology, and was said to be born when Perseus, the son of Zeus, slew Medusa. From her neck came Pegasus.
Many other gods of course coveted the illustrious Pegasus, particularly Bellerophon, who received help when Athena gave him a golden bridle. The gods had their revenge when Zeus sent a fly to madden Pegasus, making him throw Bellerophon back to earth.
As a symbol Pegasus represents many things, most of which are also associated with the horse: loyalty, stamina, endurance and speed, as well as soaring spirit, mind and heart.
