The Sexuality of Rabbit Tattoos
The rabbit has long been associated with abundance, sexuality and lust. African and American oral history tell of the rabbit as a trickster, but occasionally a hero and nearly always lovable. In Japanese mythology the white rabbit was too clever and arrogant and met a disastrous end.
Native Americans saw the rabbit as a symbol of fertility. It is a reminder that there is safety in numbers and that we can leap over any obstacles in our way. The rabbit also shows us that we can stay calm in the face of danger.
Rabbits have long been favourite characters in stories, from Peter Rabbit to the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Of course you can’t forget the Easter Bunny who brings brightly coloured eggs and the hilarious antics of Bugs Bunny.
