The Adaptable and Cunning Rat Tattoo
The rat is adaptable, intelligent and cunning. In Chinese mythology it was thought that the rat was the animal that brought the gift of rice to mankind, so the Chinese consider them to be lucky in money and power.
The rat can survive in nearly any climate, and is found on all continents except Antarctica. They are extremely hard workers and have great scavenger abilities. In Japan the rat was one of the seven gods of good luck, while in Africa the rat’s keen sense of smell was used to sniff out landmines.
Of course the rat also has its bad traits as well. It is able to spread disease; hence the devastation during the Bubonic Plagues in Europe and Asia in the 1340’s where an estimated 75 million people died. Of course the rat has tried to overcome this by becoming a favoured animal for scientists to experiment on, and over time have helped develop many cures and treatments for harmful diseases.
