Here is a figure that we all love to hate – Satan, lord of the underworld, hell, the epitome of evil. He has many other names including Lucifer, Beelzebub and Mephistopheles.
According to the Christian religion, Lucifer was an angel who was favoured by God above all the other angels. However, Lucifer soon grew vain and was cast out of heaven and now rules over Hell. He is who we blame for temptation and all other evils, and to wear his image is to try to keep him away, or to warn others that you are in his grasp.
