Egyptian Resurrection Tattoo
The scarab, also called the dung beetle, was thought by Egyptians to be symbolic of resurrection because of the way they would roll dung along the ground back to their holes, which was reminiscent of the path of the sun every day. Hence they were very important in Egyptian worship since the sun was such an important part of their religion.
Scarabs were often worn as amulets to give the wearer ‘the eternal renewal of life’. These items were often buried with the dead to help them onto the afterlife. The beetle represented the life cycle, path of the sun and hence, resurrection and the afterlife.
