The star represents something that lights up the darkness and is a beacon of truth. They are what helps us out of the unknown and guide our way when we are lost, both physically and spiritually. There are also many types of stars and each of them has their own particular meanings.
The pentagram, a five-pointed star has different meanings depending on which way it is pointing.
A down-facing pentagram is said to represent a ram’s head and is thought to be a sign of the devil.
An upward-facing pentagram can be a sign of protection and balance, as it incorporates the five elements.
The nautical star is a representation of the North Star, used by sailors to navigate their way across the sea. It is thought that by having the nautical star as a tattoo would serve as a talisman to keep from getting lost.
The hexagram (six-pointed star) is a symbol of human’s interaction with the divine, and is also known as the Star of David, an important symbol in the Jewish religion. The six points represent the days of the week while the centre is the Sabbath.
The seven-pointed star or septagram represents integration with the mystical, while the octogram (eight-pointed star) symbolizes fullness and regeneration. Finally, the nonogram or nine-pointed star symbolizes achievement and stability.
