Miracles in Stigmata Tattoos
This symbol is an expression of extreme religious faith and reminds us of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made in order to save us from sin.
Stigmata refers to small pricks or punctures on the skin, and was often used by the Greeks and Romans to brand a soldier or slave.
By this method one could tell their rank or master. Martyrs were often branded on the forehead with Christ’s name, or occasionally put Christian symbols on their hands or arms.
Today many of us associate stigmata with miracles, as in someone suddenly having marks on their hands and feet, similar to Christ on the crucifix. These people are said to be messengers of God, and the occurrence has never been properly explained by modern science.
